A sad day for goodbye’s

I’m not going to look for a hand out with this but I am now unemployed and I think the thing I will miss the most is not the steady income, though that was really nice and essential, but the people. I have worked with and liked some of the best people for the last three and a half years, I have come to find deep friends and close to family relationships with those I have laughed, cried, and ranted too. 

So when they told us three months ago that we would not be able to stay it felt like some one had punched me in the gut. My family was splitting up and there was nothing I could do about it. So for three months I watched friends go off to different states or other jobs and leave me behind. I was going to be strong, I had told myself this even though I cried when I left this afternoon, and hoped them the best.

For the past week we have closed to the public, celebrated the new year, and started packing up our store. This past week we have found things other employees had left and what customers had lost as well as put the store in boxes to be shipped, not that there was much left that is. After Christmas the store sort of reminded my coworker and me the part in How the Grinch Stole Christmas where he left nothing on the walls but some hooks and some wire. This shift we had a manager from a different store come in and grab some of the furniture for his store and he kicked and shook to see how stable it was, now one side of my brain was thinking that it was logical for him to do that but the other half of my brain was going “Hey! couldn’t you wait till we were dead before you swooped in like a vulture to pick clean our bones?”

All in a sad day of tears, boxes, and tape. I look to the future with three years of experience, three years of friendship, three years of memories, and hope.

An Idea!

I just thought of a great idea, I’ve been wanting a pen pal with snail mail for a while but couldn’t find lined stationary outside of the internet. So then I thought Hey! what about sending a hard bound note book back and forth. We could each add stickers or doodles to the front of it as well as each page.

So I’m 25 year old girl in Iowa, U.S. if any one is interested message me and we’ll pick a book over email or tumblr before it ships.
